OPERATION CARBON FOR RAIL STATIONS

The presentation will be showcasing a range of design solutions which will contribute to the reduction of the operational carbon on a major rail station project. The examples will be focus on the reduction of the operational carbon and where needed a comparation against the embodied carbon will be reviewed.

The following specific examples will be covered under the presentation:

  • Thermal design criteria for transient spaces in rail stations.
  1. Station Platform and Concourse – Design of thermal and emergency ventilation systems.
  2. Ground Source Heating and Cooling Systems and waste heat opportunities.
Photovoltaics panels – embodied vs operational carbon.
