We all need to embrace building decarbonization strategies to reduce building greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This program will discuss ASHRAE’s position on building decarbonization and ASHRAE’s plans for assisting its members and our industry in reducing building GHG emissions to achieve a net zero emission future.
“CURRICULUM VITAE”
Kent Peterson is the Chief Operating Officer at P2S Inc, a 300-person consulting engineering and commissioning firm with offices throughout the western United States. He has extensive experience working in the building and infrastructure industries. He provides leadership, inspiration and technical direction for the firm’s engineering practices.
Mr. Peterson was appointed by the United States Congress in 2011 to the Office of Federal High-Performance Green Buildings Advisory Committee for federal agencies as a representative of the engineering profession and has been re-appointed though 2022. He is chair of the 2022-2023 ASHRAE Building Decarbonization Task Force, past chair of the ASHRAE Building Decarbonization Position Document Committee, and co-chair of the GSA Federal Building Decarbonization Task Group.
Mr. Peterson is an ASHRAE Presidential Member, ASHRAE Distinguished Fellow, and recipient of the ASHRAE F. Paul Anderson Award. He is a frequent author of articles and papers and has made presentations to governments and professionals throughout the world on improving building sustainability.
