“THE LIGHTCOCE BUSINESS ECOSYSTEM: OPPORTUNITY TO INNOVATE IN CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

LightCoce Ike is a spin-off company that leverages the initiative of the HORIZON 2020 project entitled “Building an Ecosystem for the up-scaling of lightweight multi-functional concrete and ceramic materials and structures” to shape a permanent, autonomous scheme that supports the needs of industry and especially of small and medium enterprises, which do not have the resources and infrastructure needed for research, and to become a pan-European access point for service delivery, innovation and networking for the sectors under consideration.
This presentation will address the operation of the company to act as a one stop shop providing holistic services for the development of novel concepts in the fields of lightweight concrete, as well as conventional and advanced ceramics. Its services cover the whole value chain from the development of an idea of a new product, material or technology to its commercialization and market entry with all individual stages up to that point, matching the demands of industry.
The Company acts as the Single-Entry Point (SEP) to a business ecosystem that offers specialized services in the aforementioned fields in terms of development and upscaling, characterization and measurements, modelling, LCA/LCC analysis, regulatory compliance, review of standards, market analysis, business plan, IPR services. To achieve this purpose, the company collaborates closely with well-established organizations throughout Europe.

“CURRICULUM VITAE”

Konstantina Papakonstantinou graduated as Chemical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), in 2009.
In 2012 she received her M.Sc. degree in the field of Techno-economics and Business Administration.
From 2010 to 2018 she was employed as R&D researcher in the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of National Technical University of Athens. The object of work was mainly in the field of insulation and construction materials and industrial minerals, experimental design and implementation, project management/ coordination and financial management of EU research projects and one-to-one projects with the industry.
From 2018 to 2021 she transferred to the industry and specifically Imerys Greece SA as Material Scientist and Innovation Engineer, working in an international environment for corporate development projects of new products, taking over project management, scientific research, design of experiments, budget preparation, quality control of production and installation of semi- industrial sites. Her expertise lies in the field of perlite and development projects with this mineral as raw material.
Currently she is working as Business Development Manager in a small start-up company, Lightcoce Ike, active in the cement and ceramics sector, providing services for the whole value chain of such kinds of materials and products, from development to market entry.
She speaks apart from Greek other 2 foreign languages (French and German).
She has 2 publications in scientific journals and 2 in International Conferences proceedings, while being one of the applicants of 2 patents in the insulation field.
